HB, Adrienne

This will be my last post for a while - lots of fun things going on!
Our granddaughter loves basketball - I have a bit of cs featuring her school, and some other items - including Hot Off the Press brad buddies - but cannot find my basketball images, so I had to use clip art!

cars for boys

These dies are from sets that are for kids - some one gave them to me, and I struggle to use them in my Cuttlebug - I added half a dozen pieces of cs for shims in order to get them to cut.  Do any of you use them?  Suggestions?  Another suggestion for Cuttebug - how about a different HB folder?  A horizontal one would be nice!  The DP is Paper Pizzazz.

Recycled shabby and shiny

(This may not have the same appearance on the screen as IRL.)  Actually, what I see on the screen may look better!  Well, not everything...  The stripes at the bottom are pieces from an old Christmas card - dark burgundy and gold.  The top is a bit from a metallic gold gift bag, with the Snowflake embossing.  IRL it is much too shiny for my taste, and I sponged with cream color chalk to tone it down - not really showing here.  I also sponged (chalk) the edges of the image - again, much smoother looking IRL.  I roughed the edges to add to the shabby look.  I colored the Stampendous image with Prismas.  As I have mentioned previously I am having difficulty coloring this - still waiting for suggestions!

Set #2 - Five Christmas cards

Here is another set of five cards for this challenge:  http://christmascardsallyearround.blogspot.com/
It is similar to my first entry, but all are different.  They have, however, been posted individually in the past few days and entered in different challenges.  I could use a few more sets of five - great challenge!

CAS Christmas

I really struggle with CAS, and then - NO embellishents!  I used the snowflake embossing folder on the green bg layer -it just does not show up!  The sentiment is from a cube - no maker listed.

Rustic Shepherds

Once again I am working to complete my collection of cards for this year - mostly using the same Stampendous image.  Other supplies:  burlap (from gift packaging); metallic ribbon, argyle EF, paper that seems to be hanmade parchment; Nesties circles.

Snowy Scene

This came from Joan's Gardens shop - I won it as a prize a couple of weeks ago.  It is a lovely scene which I sponged with chalk - some powdered and some regular.  I added Stickles to the snow.  I tried something new - stamping on a piece of satin ribbon  (Hampton Art sentiment), which I attached with  Nesties corner die cut.

Rita's birthday

A good friend is celebrating her 80th birthday this week.  I wanted to make a special card, and thought of one from several weeks ago.  I used many of the same elements and many different ones:  Paper Studio dp, Basic Grey paper tape, cream rick rack and ribbon, walnut spray on pink cs for the numbers, Kraft cs.

John's birthday

We missed a friend's birthday last week, so needed to make one quickly and get it in the mail.  He is an avid golfer who bears no resemblance to this Ralph (Rubbernecker).  The autumn bg has some leaves - hope you can see them.  I added a bit of ribbon and Washi tape.

Christmas 2013

My cards are getting more and more simple as I realize I have less and less time with lots of cards to go!  We have some plans for the next month so that takes care of some of my prep time!  The Christmas set is by Stampendous; I used the Argyle embossing folder and some washi tape.  The star is backed with a second green star for dimension.  I am not sure what the cream paper is - it is rather like a hand made parchment paper - it came in a box I got at a store closing - great bargain, but no information!

Rejoice

This is a digital image and computer generated sentiment.  I have had this piece of burlap for a while - I think it came from some packaging - I thought it would go well with the image and papers.  The branches are from a Cheery Lynn die purchased at Joan's Gardens.

Christmas 2013 #5

This is the fifth in a set of Christmas cards.  I have used the same Stampendous set, some of the same DP (Faith, by Paper Studio) and a couple of the same sketches, but I did vary some of the elements.  This stamp is new this year, but the cs, dp, and tear drops have been in my stash a long time.  I stamped on a piece of paper I got almost 3 years ago - it was in a box of papers and cs I bought at a store closing, for pennies (I should have bought a lot more stuff!!!).  It is kind of a parchment paper - with fibers and texture.
(I used Washi tape but the challenge by Lori seems to be closed earlier than I expected.)

Christmas 2013 #4

See previous posts for more description.  This stamp set (Stampendous) is new this Christmas season.  The cord, ribbon, gems and charms have been in my stash for several years, and the Paper Studio DP has been there for a year or two.

Peaceful Thinking of You

I am not sure why this image looks all grey on the screen.  I used Blue Bell powdered chalk (Chalk-ah-Lot) for the water - it is a sea green color.  I used other chalk (tan, blue) for the sand and sky, and a chalk pencil for the bg - I was thinking they were trees, but as I look again probably mountains.  There is a bit of glitter on the water, and I added a strip of metallic mesh, some twine, and blue metal brads.  The image is Stampendous and the sentiment from a Recollections set -it has sentiments I am using a lot.

Christmas 2013

Coffee and cream

The color is not showing well on my screen - the mats are all a coffee brown, and the patterns are varying shades of brown.  Several years ago I HAD to have a spray bottle of Walnut ink - which has been barely touched.  I think it is primarily because I have a very hard time controlling the spray - lots of big blobs.  Oh, well...  The Joanna Sheen butterfly-Back to Nature (a prize for me!) and Recollection sentiment are in Tim Holtz distress ink, and the glittery flowers are Petaloo.

Pieced die cut

The challenge this week at Joan's Garden is just that - a challenge!  She has a link to a video showing paper piecing a die cut.  I really do not have suitable dies, but tried with this one - doing the leafy scroll in green and the flowers in red.  I added dragonflies (from Cheery Lynn Little things With Wings, available at Joan's store) and a trellis.  The trellis is cut from a piece of gold Shape n' Tape - nice for the narrow bits, as it is self adhesive.  The Verse is Our Daily Bread.  The bg is partially embossed with the CB Victoria folder,

Paul's Birthday

I know I am getting old when our youngest is going to be 54!  I hope he will be ok with a somewhat vintage card.  I  usually do a hunting/fishing style, but wanted a different type this time.

Christmas 2013 - for a guy

In case you did not read this before - each year I tend to use the same image, with different designs, for our family Christmas card.  I do not have to keep track of where they are sent!  The image is Stampendous, the sentiment Studio G.  The DP is from a pack called Faith, by Paper Studio.

Guest Designer at High Hopes

High Hopes sketch - Challenge 188

How exciting!  This is the card I created as a guest designer for the challenge this week at High Hopes - so appropriate, as sketches are probably my favorite challenge - nearly every one of my cards has a sketch challenge as the starting point.   I used a previous prize from High Hopes - Country Garden.  The pinks are an inspiration from Stamping Sensations.  Coloring is by Prismas.  Another favorite technique is to sponge embossing (CB Happy Birthday folder) with chalk.  Both DP patterns are by My Minds Eye.  Some butterflies (Marvy) complete the card.  It is 4.5 x 6.25, since it is a large image.  This card is already on its way to my sister-in-law, who enjoys her garden a lot.
